Post How could M.A.D be represented ingame?
Hello, I I was wondering how M.A.D could be represented in the mod. As It stands currently, the one who fires the first nuke is essentially guaranteed to win, since the game is turn based.

I was wondering if something could be implemented to better represent 2 nuclear powers competing, where the victor isn't the one who shot first. I've seen other mods, such as AND:ROM use a sort of interface, where the nukes could be predetermined to fire at specific cities if someone fired at you.

However, I'm not coder, so I don't know if it would actually work, nor if the AI could handle it.

Thoughts?

At this point in time, it is unlikely we'll introduce any tweaks to how the nuclear weapons are used - though, admittedly, they definitely could use much improvement. Nukes are such a late-game occurrence that now, as we are nearing the final release, I don't feel the pressing need to concentrate on them. There are indeed some MAD-modcomps, but I never studied them in detail - what they do, how they impact AI and whether it would take much to integrate them.

Thanks for the response!

I understand, but I hope you will consider it in the future (:

Are nukes immune to getting destroyed by other nukes? That would simulate MAD pretty effectively and doesn't need any fancy new mechanics.

Truth be said, I don't know. I never actually dropped a nuke in all my civ games. I'm a pretty peaceful player, and this far into game, I rarely if ever fight someone at all.

Yep, all missile units are nuke immune.
