Post RI Planet Generator
Sorry for all the spam, friends.

So! I think the first post I made on this forum was about the 'Map Size Override' feature when using the RI Planet Generator map script, enquiring about whether or not each override option (40x24, 260x160 etc.) had the related gameplay-altering modifiers that the regular map size options did (https://imgur.com/a/X9PuQQA). I'm terrible at wording & expression, so not only will it be painful reading this thread, but I rarely get my point across. Such was the case with my last post asking about this.

Either way, I thought something felt a little off: each map size override option does not have their own overrides for the modifiers (GIANT - https://imgur.com/KAgT6TJ, DUEL - https://imgur.com/JjKbAoS)

Now, this isn't actually a problem at all unless you intend to play map sizes much larger than Giant's 152x96 tiles. (For the curious, it goes to 260x160, with many options in between.)
The only issue is that it's not stated anywhere, and the player is going to assume that selecting a map override is simply going to change how big the map is, without unbalancing the gameplay in any way. The issue is made obvious in the two images linked just above. A player may intend to create their match using an override, so they'll leave the map size to 'Duel'. Their tech will progress 200% faster than it would if they'd selected Giant, among other things.

Moral of the story, RI Planet Generator is a fucking amazing map script, and this pitfall should be put in the manual. <3

p.s. lil gallery of purdy maps & interesting formations created with the script https://imgur.com/a/B5wb5Uf
