 Version 3.5
I've been playing Realism: Invictus for about two years now and it is by far my favorite mod for Civ IV, which is itself my favorite civilization game. RI manages to keep adding interesting new features and makes each of the civilizations feel unique and interesting to play.
Obligatory spiel about how I like the game out of the way, I've been following the developments on the Sourceforge page for version 3.5 somewhat eagerly, as I see the devs are planning on adding some interesting new features. I'm not really a min-max, deep strategy kind of player, but I love RI from a roleplaying perspective and a lot of the new features seem really cool.
I was merely wondering if there was an idea of when the installer for 3.5 would be done?

When the new features are ready. At least all playable civs need to have dynamic flags/names.

 Re: Version 3.5
I played 2 games using SNV latest.
It is definitely different from 3.4. The evolving civilization names and banners and the new constant revolution really makes it more realistic. I liked that, you cannot expand with the constant risk of breaking apart your empire, and I saw it happening to me and a lot to AI players. Its very nice, it really reflects the fall of large empires, this makes for a very different gameplay experience. Also liked the new civics.
Strangely I spotted some buildings disappearing when the city is conquered, and I cannot rebuild the lost buildings.
On the other hand, I found it 50% slower than 3.4.

 Re: Version 3.5
Slower in what way? The turns taking a long time?
I imagine they still have some kinks to work out before final release, but the revolutions component is probably fairly demanding.

 Re: Version 3.5
It is indeed. I am fully aware that due to my rather mediocre coding skills, the Rev component is rather suboptimal in terms of performance, so while I'm taking some steps to optimise it, it's definitely far from "free" in this regard.
As for buildings disappearing - what exactly do you mean?

 Re: Version 3.5
I had Storyteller Circle in a city. The city was conquered by AI, and I conquered it back. But neither the storyteller circle was there, neither I could rebuild it.
Happened to some other buildings. I will pay attention now and make a more detailed report.

One thing I can tell you is that I am in the same boat with all of you now - just waiting (and sneaking smallish updates, but mostly waiting).

Same as you, for 3.5 installer. I don't make it, and I have no direct means of influencing the person who does. I personally hope for this weekend.

Well Walter, when your mod finally does drop I will be over-the-moon excited, but also it will completely destroy my study and work rhythm. Lol.

 Re: Version 3.5
So I saw the installer dropped Sunday night, so I went ahead and tried out 3.5. Assumed there might be a few post-release bugs in it, and I think I found one immediately.
So, I've run the installer (I've tried this with the lite as well as full versions, even though I don't think it would make a difference). Installer runs fine, but when you go to boot the game up it gets to about the "Init XML (uncached) stage and then pops up an error: "GFC Error: Failed to initialize the primary control theme." It will continue to load up to the "Init fonts" stage and then crash to desktop.
I've tried it about four times and its done the same thing. Cleaned out all the old Realism Invictus files and it still did it. Tried it on a squeaky clean install of Beyond the Sword, same problem.
I was wondering if this is something on my end or a bug in the mod.

 Re: Version 3.5
As far as I can tell, this is a directory thing. The mod is expecting the game to be in a different folder than it actually is. But its installed under the same conditions as 3.4, unless I'm missing something.

 Re: Version 3.5
Thanks, that was actually a rather sneaky bug that didn't affect those with SVN version installed as well (= 100% of the people involved in making RI, obviously). The fixed installer should be up by tomorrow.

And generally speaking, stay tuned everyone: some time tomorrow, 3.5 final installer should be ready.

 Re: Version 3.5
I played a few games till Industrial era, this are the things I found relevant:
* Revolutions mod really change the game flow. Change so much that every turn I got a look at the revolt screen. Is there a way to add the revolution number (-10, -5, -20) directly over the city? * I once had a revolt and my Empire split in 2, and my Capital was on the other side! I really wish this could not happen. * Game, with revolutions, is 50% slower than 3.4 * RI map generator seems much better than 3.4
I like the new version. It's a very different game, albeit much slower.

 Re: Version 3.5
You can get it off the Sourceforge, but there's a bug in the installer that they're going to fix sometime today so I would wait for the very newest version to drop.
